The Base Camp is excited to host the 2009-2010 Banff Mountain Film Festival! We will host the film festival in Billings Wednesday May 5, 7:00 p.m. at the Lincoln Center Auditorium and Friday evening, May 7, 7 p.m. at the Helena Middle School Auditorium.

2 Miles or 5 Miles…Run or Walk…all are timed with chip timing from Championship of the Rockies. Last year almost 7,000 women of all ages hit the streets on the day before Mother’s Day in mutual pursuit of health and fitness, camaraderie and medals! We gave over $60,000 back to the community divided among the Billings YWCA, Billings Clinic Women’s Wellness Fund, Billings Family YMCA, and scholarships at both Rocky Mountain College and MSU-Billings. Top 3 finishers in each race, as well as Masters and Super Masters (60+) receive special awards. Medals are 5 deep in 5-year age groups up to 90+. RRCA State Championship for women in the 2 Mile and 5 Mile Open, Masters and Grand Masters (50+). All entries receive a long sleeve, specially designed t-shirt. See our website. Entry fee is $17 online at active.com or $19 by mail or walk in (cash or check). $2 extra for XXL. Fee goes up by $5 on Thursday May 6. Online entry closes Friday, April 30th at 11 pm. Beartooth Moon Walk- Oct 22- Billings

The Beartooth Ranger District will close out the year of full moon walks with the “Community Moon” event on Friday, October 22nd from 6:00 -8:00 p.m. at Café Regis in Red Lodge. Normally, these walks have a staggered start time, but the format tonight will require a more precise start.

The “Community Moon” is meant to celebrate all types of communities, share thoughts on how the landscapes of the Beartooths have shaped the character and culture of our communities, and what practices keep it all going.

The format tonight includes a panel discussion, with the following panel members:

William Snell, Crow Tribal member

Brian Roat, Camp Senia outfitting and guiding

Jeff McNeish, Mining and community – 19th through 21st centuries

Heyneman Family, Ranchers

Sierra Golberg, Speaking for youth

In addition, there will be a musical performance by folk singer Bill Staines, at the Café Regis, following the panel discussion, beginning at 8:30 p.m.

Billings- Magic City Trail Trek, Sunday June 6

4th Annual Magic City Trail Trek!

Come join the 4th Annual Magic City Trail Trek on Sunday, June 6 at 11:00 AM at the park area southeast of the City of Billings Public Utilities Office at 2251 Belknap.

This City of Billings event is a Go Play trails campaign to promote a healthier community and multiuse trail system in Billings. Families are invited to walk, bike, rollerblade or jog the out-and-back course along the trail system and ending with a barbecue at the Public Utilities Park where we started.

Fun festivities will include a raffle for fabulous prizes, entertainment by local bands, refreshments along the way and a barbecue at the park area along the river, southeast of the Public Utilities Office at 2251 Belknap. Make sure to mark your calendars and bring your rollerblades, bicycles, skateboards, joggers or walking feet to the trail by Public Utilities on June 6. The registration forms and information will be posted on the BikeNet web site www.bikenet.org .

LOCATION:All races start at 8:30 on N. 30th St. in front of St. Vincent Healthcare, Billings, Montana. 5K and 10K courses are USATF certified. There will be free refreshments, family fun, games and races for kids all morning in Grandview Park, north of St. Vincent Healthcare.

REGISTRATION:
Register early to get your t-shirt size. No changing of race distances once registered. Children in strollers do not need to be registered. No registration on Race Day.
